On a cold wet January morning we decided to treat ourselves to Mexican for Breakfast at Dalia Cocina on Keynsham High Street. I have eaten at Dalia Cocina once before in the evening and enjoyed the food.
There was a good selection of choices for breakfast including burritos, chorizo hash, huevos rancheros and guacamole on toast. There are also some more traditional English options including a full English, bacon / sausage sandwiches and eggs on toast.
This place is definitely different and offers up a fiesta vibe with the decor.
It was quiet when we went although it was early on a weekday. Staff were friendly although not particularly attentive. While our food was cooking the chef nipped off to buy some bacon so it was a good job we weren’t in a hurry.
Our drinks came quickly and the warm coffee was very welcome after our wet walk down.
The Chorizo Hash was delicious and I would definitely have it again. It consisted of perfectly soft but crisp potatoes, peppers, onions, chorizo all cooked in the in house spice served with two fried eggs and a fresh salsa.
This was really tasty and at £4.95 it felt like good value for money, filling me up until lunch.
My friend had Huevos Rancheros, we were both used to the Spanish style of eggs in a tomato sauce so this Mexican version was new to us. A tortilla topped with refried beans, salsa and a fried egg.
A tasty dish however at £4.50 my friend felt I had got more for my money with the hash.
Whilst I love the Mexican dishes my 4 year old is not particularly adventurous so he had a bacon sandwich. It was a great bacon sandwich with fresh bread cut into doorstop slices with butter and well cooked bacon. He loved it and at £2.95 was great value for money.
I will be returning for breakfast and will also take advantage of the take away option. A lovely place for some tasty food, this place has a ton of potential and is reasonably priced. Perfect for a spicy start to your day.
